One question I get asked a lot is about the free “wink” facility on most dating sites. Should you use them to make initial contact and see if they are interested or not? It often seems an easy, quick way to express interest without spending any money.
My advice is NEVER to use “winks”!Firstly, it just sends the message to the women that you are too shy or lazy to send a proper message. It just looks cheap. Why not send a real message as a paying member?Secondly, by “winking” you are making them aware of your profile. If they aren’t keen when they see that, then are much less likely to bother to read any emails that you send them later. The same goes for “adding them to favourites” or even visiting the profiles. Send a short, interesting fun email the second you think you might be interested in them and make sure you say why you are contacting them.
There is one exception to the rule and you can usually only do it once so do it carefully. If you’ve had some contact/interest from a girl but she’s a bit slow to get back to you, send a wink to remind her you are waiting.
