Well here we are, two weeks into 2010 already!
As the year marches s on I know many of you have made New Year Resolutions to finally sort out your dating life. How are you doing so far? Have you ever wondered why exactly did people start making these pesky resolutions in the first place?
New Year wasn’t always in Winter. In fact, in ancient times it was first observed in the spring. The choice of spring symbolised brand new beginnings. It was a time when the earth started to warm up again, animals were born, flowers bloomed and crops were planted. Young men’s thoughts turned to romance, sex dating and people felt inspired to make an effort that the New Year would be much better than the old one.
Although our New Year now comes in freezing, snowy Winter rather than the newness of Spring, we still attach significance to it being a new brand new beginning. We ring out the old year, symbolised by the ancient Old Father Time. Then we ring in the New Year, depicted by the image of new born baby. It really is the perfect time for starting over and casting off the past.
Starting again gives us a clean slate. We love making resolutions because in doing so it can release s us of our failures at least enough to give us hope. We understand from an instinct deep inside that moving forward with renewed resolve will help us to achieve the things we have pledged for our new year. Resolutions are a sign of our hope, without which we could never achieve our goals. It’s time to forget the past and have new dating adventures!
